Youth Development

“Young people are the leaders of today, not tomorrow.” ~ Kofi Annan, former UN Secretary General

Our youth development programs are designed to equip young people with the skills, knowledge, opportunities and resources they need to succeed.

We believe in empowering young people to dream bigger dreams, to take charge of their lives, to set goals and to work towards achieving them.

For over 30 years the VM Group has given significant support to over 1,600 students at all educational levels because we believe that a truly independent society is an educated one. We consider it an honour to be able to reward our best and brightest youth Members for their progressive achievements.

Established over 30 years ago to foster the growth of the nation’s young and upcoming football prodigies, VM’s support of the  Under-13 Football Competition is in partnership with the St. James Football Association. Since then, the programme has evolved, adding personal development, leadership and financial education components and adopting a new moniker, VM UpLift.

The VM Ignite Programme aims to expose tertiary students to various life skills inclusive of financial education, with a view to improving their quality of life.

Initially established by the British Council, the Social Enterprise in Secondary Schools (SESS-J), now VM EnRich, aims to equip teenagers with the requisite tools to help increase their knowledge of social innovation and entrepreneurship while developing core skills for learning life and work.

The Child Resiliency Programme (CRP) is an initiative that the VM Foundation supports through the Violence Prevention Alliance. Implemented in October 2020, the programme targets youth and children that are at risk of violence, health and social traumas.
